Content Hub Settings - Categories

A Category is a colored label tag that Creators assign to content — Slides, Articles, and other items — when they publish. Categories let teams organize and filter published content by topic, department, or campaign. Each Category has a display name and a brand color that renders as a pill tag in the Creator UI. Categories are managed at Settings → Categories and can optionally be scoped to one or more Spaces.

Prerequisites

  • Account Type: System Administrator.
  • Decide on a naming convention before creating Categories — they are visible to all Creators. Short, consistent names work best (e.g., HR, Marketing, IT).
  • Hex color values for each Category. Using your brand palette or department color scheme keeps the tag system coherent.

Procedure

Step 1 — Open Categories

In the Settings left navigation, select Categories.

The Categories list opens. Each row shows a color dot and the category Name. Use the What are you looking for? search box to filter by name, and the Sort by dropdown to change the sort order (default: Name).

Step 2 — Create a new Category

  1. Select Add new in the top-right. The Add New Category form opens.

  1. Fill in the fields:
    Field Required Description
Name Yes The label shown to Creators when tagging content (e.g., HR, Campaign, Q3 Launch).
Color No Hex color value for the category pill (e.g., #4527BF). Enter a value or select the swatch to open the color picker. The Preview pill updates in real time.
Spaces No Restrict this Category to one or more Spaces. Leave empty (No spaces) to make it available in all Spaces.
  2. Check the Preview pill to confirm the name and color look correct.
  3. Select Add New Category to save.

Heads up: Category names are visible to all Creators. Keep them short and unambiguous — a name like IT is clearer than Information Technology Department Content.

Step 3 — Edit an existing Category

Hover over a Category row and select the Edit icon (or select the category name) to open the Edit Category panel on the right.

All fields from Step 2 are editable:

  • Update the Name or Color and watch the Preview pill reflect the change.
  • Add or remove Spaces assignments using the multi-select.
  • Select Save changes to save.

Heads up: Renaming a Category updates it everywhere it is displayed, including on content that was already tagged with it.

Step 4 — Delete a Category

Hover over a Category row and select the Delete icon.

Important: Deletion is permanent and cannot be undone. Content that was tagged with the deleted Category will no longer carry that tag. Review which content items use the Category before deleting.

Verification

After creating or editing a Category, confirm it appears correctly in the list:

  1. Return to the Categories list and locate the Category by name or use the search box.
  2. Verify the color dot matches the hex value you entered.
  3. As a Creator, open the content tagging step when creating or publishing a Slide or Article and confirm the Category appears in the picker.
