Configuring External Sources: RSS

This guide explains how to configure an RSS feed as an External Source in the Netpresenter Content Hub.

Stap 1 — Configure the RSS External Source

In Netpresenter Content Hub Admin, go to:

Settings → External Sources → Sources

Click Add new External Source and select RSS.

1.1 General Settings

Name
Choose a descriptive name related to the RSS feed URL.

Example:
BBC News

Description
Enter a short description of the RSS feed.
This is typically related to the same source as the URL.

Example:
BBC World Stories

URL
Enter the full RSS feed URL you want to use in Content Hub.

Example: 

http://feeds.bbci.co.uk/news/world/rss.xml


1.2 Configuration Settings

Use the following configuration values:

Update Interval
1 Hour (recommended)

Item Root Path
//channel/item

Media Path
//channel/item/enclosure/@url

Read More Path
//channel/item/link

Publish Date Path
//channel/item/pubDate

Expire Date Path (Optional)
Leave empty unless the RSS feed provides an explicit expiration date.

Update Date Path
//channel/pubDate

Unique ID Path
//channel/item/guid

Template ID Path (Optional)
Leave empty unless the RSS feed contains a custom template identifier.

Stap 2 — Configure Field Tags

Add the following Field Tags:

Field Path Field Label
//channel/title Feed Name
//channel/description Feed Description
//channel/image/url Feed Logo
//channel/link Feed URL
//channel/item/title Post Title
//channel/item/description Post Description
//channel/item/media Post Media
//channel/item/link Post URL


Stap 3 — Save and Test

Click Save and run and verify that RSS items are retrieved correctly.

Your RSS External Source are now available inside Netpresenter Content Hub.
